Technology

The Protein stability and aggregation assay kit determines the thermal stability of a protein, as well as its folding and unfolding characteristics. The assay is based on a fluorescent dye which binds to the hydrophobic surfaces of proteins and generates a fluorescent signal at 635 nm. Since unfolded proteins have more exposed hydrophobic surfaces than native proteins, unfolded proteins generate a stronger fluorescent signal than folded proteins. The kit allows determination of thermal unfolding curves and calculation of protein half life times (t1/2), which in turn can be used to evaluate protein stability. Thermal unfolding curves can also be used to analyze protein unfolding and aggregation states.
